i hate fascists

don't tell me how to live. why does everyone have to scape goat the smokers in this country. what about the fatties? how about firing people for being really fat instead of being a smoker. i'm sure the health risks are similar. what about the alcoholics? that can't be healthy either. i finally quit smoking again but i just don't understand the hatred towards people who smoke.

i think it's the fault of the restaurant owner for not having enough ventilation or not separating the sections well enough. it shouldn't have to be a law that you can't smoke in a public place. but people are stupid and that what laws are for in a representative republic.

Smoking harms others - that's the whole point

Unlike obesity smoking actually harms *other* people. No amount of ventilation can remedy that. And if obesity offends you, you can just stop staring. But if you're in a smoke-filled room the only solution would be to leave entirely which just seems unfair.

There are so many more enjoyable and less intrusive addictions out there to indulge in. smoking is just plain stupid and hopefully will die out on its own accord one day. until then i'm glad for any anti-smoking legislation... is that too hard to understand?

Well if you really think about it, obesity does harm me in the form of insurance rates (and yes smoking does the same and alcoholism and lot's of other things). We shouldn't stop staring at the obese people out there. They need to find a way to cure their addiction as well. I can understand not wanting to breathe smoke while at a restaurant. I don't understand the need to legislate every single problem we have (including obesity). There has to be a better solution than out right bans.

I do enjoy the restaurants with no smoking but I also enjoy freedom. What happens when they tell people they can't smoke in their own home?

Leave it to magicians to tell you what to think....
